This is a NEW product carriage design as of 8-24-16, and I have taken the liberty to name it a Kubowara™. (a Kubotan with Key Ring attachment that converts to a "Key Ring Free" Yawara Stick). This only makes sense because it carries as a traditional Kubotan
    (often misspelled -> Kubaton )
with Key Ring attachment,....BUT with a
    Removable
Key Ring Carriage Component. This allows
    unencumbered
    Yawara Stick USE that is
    powerful and effective at
    BOTH
    ends,
    and
features an ergonomic & firm "Fist-Lock™" grip that is like no other!
Your vehicle's ignition lock will also hold up much better without the weight of ANY Kubotan attached and swinging
    continuously
    from the lock!
    Also,
    permanently
attached keys, as most often seen on a Kubotan, can offer somone a firm grasp from which to wrench the stick from
    your
hand. If ever that should happen with
    this
design, .....your stick will remain with YOU!
Contrary to generally accepted practice, if ever needed your stick is much more effective WITHOUT keys attached! BOTH tips can impart the same full force in either direction, and you aren't going to be cut with the typical key flailing technique often touted.
Keys can also get tangled in your grip while striking, possibly causing you to lose your grip,...and I've read the "flailing" keys into an attackers face is more likely to enrage rather than stop them! (Google "
Sammy Franco + Kubotan" to read his take on it, OR "themartialist key flailing" to read more on this).
    The
    removable
Key Ring Carriage will also give you the ability to use the longest key as a separate "jabbing" tool in your other hand, OR "feign fling" the keys hard,...creating a brief distraction allowing you to move in quickly for a solid strike(s) to stop the attack!
NOTE: The LAST photo shows how the various lengths compare in my own hand, to give you a better idea how they might lay in an "average" size hand.
    ONLY
    the 5-1/2" Kubowara

Stick is part of this offering.
Offered is ONE 5-1/2" Length "Patent Pending" Aerospace Grade 5 Titanium (6AL-4V Alloy) Easy-Carry,  Compact, Ergonomic Firm Grip,  Kubowara

Stick (Key Ring Kubotan that converts to a Key-Free Yawara Stick)
These are made in my "Standard Weight" .44" Diameter Titanium Rod.
They are designed, hand made, & assembled in the USA by:
    Ti Rod Tactical™
    ,  and have the same
    Fist-Lock™
firm grip design as many of my other compact Yawara Sticks.
This tempered Grade 5 Titanium rod is much stronger and harder than wooden, aluminum, or polymer made sticks, ....and won't rust either as Titanium is inert to the elements. Minor scratches are easily removed with a simple "Scotch-Brite" scrub pad that most of you already use in the kitchen. A truly affordable and practical modern tool in the discipline of "Yawarajutsu".
A secure grip is something that has often been lacking with the also compact Kubotan style sticks, as they most always seem a bit slippery to me.  I've also never liked the multiple deep cutaway finger grooves often seen  in an attempt to add some security to the grip.
The Kubotan sticks are already rather thin, so to cut material away in an attempt to add "grip" is going in the wrong direction. I think what I present here is much better, and initial testing bear that out.  I've also not been a  fan of the permanently attached jumble of keys should you ever need to deploy the stick!
So,.....I offer instead a basic Yawara / Kubotan stick shape, but having a VERY comfortable and secure grip with a high coefficient of friction "raised" reinforced rubber central area, that is optimized to the user's hand like no other!
The innovative raised central reinforced rubber grip nestles rather nicely into the small "pocket" created where the fingers meet the hand when it is cupped!  The use of this grip design also "mechanically locks" the stick between the first and pinky fingers within a closed fist,....with the middle and ring fingers contributing substantial additional gripping forces.
I have chosen the name Fist-Lock

to describe these very worthwhile and effective attributes!
I make these up in 4 different lengths (4-5/8", 5", 5-1/2", and 6-1/8"), and this offering is the second largest at 5-1/2" in length once the key ring carriage is pulled free.  I've found this length still fits most folks well, .....and with the central reinforced rubber section that allows a firm and comfortable grip for the "average" sized hand. For point of reference in the photos shown above, my own hand measures 3-3/4" across at the widest part and 3-1/4" across at the base of the fingers, .....and is about average I'd think.
The central grip "ends up" a bit under 1-13/16" in length once installed. It's so tight going on that it actually compresses about 1/4 of an inch in length! :-)   This gives a solid "locked in" GRIP with a great ergonomic "feel" in hand, and in a
    very
compact size for ease and comfort in pocket carry!
However, if your hand is exceptionally small or large, let me know and I can optimize the stick and central grip length that will lock the stick within your closed fist and give an ergonomic fit and feel that simply feels great!  Hopefully you'll want to get more training time in,.....and that's always beneficial. :-)
The reason for this grip length is simple,.........
As part of the overall ergonomic design, when the central grip length is about 1-7/8" in length.....this will allow the user to effectively "lock"  the stick into their closed fist (aka
    Fist-Lock™
), .....with a portion of the stick exiting the fist on each end as shown in the photos.
With the inside edge of the first finger wrapped around the rod and butted up against the comfortably tapered top edge of the grip, ....and the inside edge of the forth (pinky) finger wrapped around and butted up against the similarly tapered lower edge of the grip,......the stick is effectively LOCKED in place between both ends of the raised rubber grip within the closed fist! (as shown in photos 2-7)
I have found that for most folks, these sticks work out well and are virtually invisible when pocket carried.  When used defensively, the body's natural reaction is to make an even tighter fist, which serves very well here to "lock" the stick into the fist even more.
Also, for lots of reasons it makes sense to consider carrying multiple sticks at various locations upon your person, which is what I most often do. You never know when a single stick might be unreachable should you be wrapped up in a particular way without warning, and having various stick types available will help to counter that possibility.
To that end,.....I am offering (in separate listings), various lengths and thicknesses of this same great Titanium alloy, but with a variety of carriage systems.  Please check back often on my other listings.
    Thanks for your consideration.
ALSO,....PLEASE make sure Yawara and Kubotan style sticks are legal to carry in your Country, State, City, or Town
    before
purchasing. Some areas may have restrictions on such things, and I cannot possibly know about every specific law in every area of the world. :-)  Your purchase confirms you have complied with your local laws. Thank You.

    NOTE:
This works very well as a "Pill Crusher" for those of you desiring your medications to be crushed and mixed into water or another liquid. This is known to lessen stomach upsets and other common side effects of taking medications.  I use a small bottle cap as a "mortar" to contain the pill powder created as you use this stick as a "pestle" to grind up the pills, and transfer the powder to the liquid of your choosing for consumption. "Acupressure" use is also possible with this tool.
